So, no Chris Morris, then

Are you stressed yet? Are you? Are you stressed? Etc.

Yep, it looks like Chris Morris isn't in Series 2 of The IT Crowd. I can't say I'm totally shocked - he's never done more than one series of any TV show in the past. Of course, with no Morris, there's no Denholm - you could recast some parts, but can you imagine anyone replacing Chris Morris in anything? Instead, someone else is taking over the company - and the part is to be played by Matt Berry, who I'm ashamed to say I haven't seen in anything bar the odd Darkplace episode a few years back, which I can't remember much about anyway. Journalism, there.

Still, whilst it's a disappointment, it's hardly a show-breaker. Unlike some people, who seem to think that Morris was the only decent thing about the first series (and I must write those episode reviews to PROVE that you are WRONGE), I loved nearly all of it - and the heart of the show is our three heroes, Moss, Roy and Jen. Sure, it's fantastic when Morris turns up and is effortlessly amusing - but Denholm isn't what the show is actually about. So, I'm not too worried... but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed.

Finally, many apologies for the usual lack of updates around here - I'm currently rather busy. Should be sorted soon. Go on, gizza a job.

Comments

I may be the only IT Crowd fan who thought Morris was an ill-fitting part of the programme. He drew too much attention for me - I found his presence distracting, his performance out of kilter with the rest. Which is, I know, I bizarre thing to say given the nature of the show!

Plus, I loved Berry in Darkplace. His improvised interviews - as the outtakes showed - were every bit as good as the others, but somehow got the short straw in the edit. He's less severe, generally, and I suspect that'll work for me on IT.

This casting change pleases me greatly.
